M14 M1A USGI wood stock in birch, Springfield Armory manufactured - SA (the original one, not the commercial company that makes the M1A) was the US government armory that developed the M14 and produced the first issued M14s. They had the lowest production of any manufacturer of the rifle and ended production the earliest of any manufacturer under the M14 program. The production of the M14, coming after the M1 Garand, depleted the stock of walnut lumber in the United States. Rifle stock production shifted to birch at about the same time that Springfield Armory was reaching the end of their production run. So the short overlap makes the SA birch stock quite rare. I did a pretty complete sort of my supply of stocks in the summer of 2023, and when these go out of stock we're done.

Excellent Plus - looks like a well maintained, issued stock. Dings, wear and scratches are lighter than Excellent condition, and the finish is in really good shape. Metal shows some wear, but not excessive. This looks great on a new rifle. Plan on wiping it down with some mineral spirits and think about putting on a coat of tung oil. Think of these as the hand select version of Excellent. Straight (not fancy) grain. Comes with a complete metal kit attached. The butt plate is in excellent condition.

Has proof and inspection stamps.

The birch excellent plus stocks are very close to "As New".
